Integrating digital health tools, AI, and clinical research to revolutionize MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease) prevention and treatment through personalized interventions
Somaya's innovation combines clinical research and innovative solutions to address chronic liver diseases, particularly MASLD. It integrates targeted therapies she contributed to, such as those aimed at addressing metabolic dysfunction and hormonal imbalances, which have shown promise in resolving MASLD in specific patient populations, along with digital health interventions to improve patient engagement and outcomes. She is developing and testing an AI-powered app that delivers personalized lifestyle interventions, helping patients make sustainable changes to manage their condition. Additionally, she and her team are creating a generative AI-based chatbot to educate patients and caregivers on cirrhosis and its treatments. Through extensive collaborations, she is testing mobile platforms and digital health solutions that integrate research data, providing education, awareness, and risk reduction strategies for individuals with MASLD. I am also developing non-digital interventions, including tools to improve cirrhosis symptoms and prevent complications, along with community engagement initiatives. Together, these innovations enhance personalized care, bridge digital health gaps, and aim to improve patient adherence, ultimately transforming MASLD management.
Currently, her innovation is being utilized in both clinical trials and real-world applications to improve the care and management of MASLD.
Her future plans involve expanding and refining her innovation to improve the management of MASLD and other chronic liver diseases.
