Nader Shafi is a researcher and entrepreneur, having founded SkanMD (Skin Anomalies Monitoring and Detection) in Lebanon with the aim to make skin diagnosis as seamless and comfortable as possible. He has received both his master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering and his bachelor’s of computer and communications engineering from the American University of Beirut, where his SkanMD began as a senior design project, but has developed into a final product that is non-invasive, hand-held, and cost-effective. The device uses proprietary sensors, hardware, and algorithms to miniaturize and integrate hardware that would otherwise be very large to provide a rapid diagnosis within the medical provider’s clinic.
