Asrar Damdam is a scientist and entrepreneur, holding a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from KAUST. Her work focuses on developing food preservation technologies and implementing Internet of Things solutions to digitize fresh food management processes. She is also the founder and CEO of Uvera, a cleantech startup committed to reducing food loss and waste. Uvera’s innovative products significantly extend the shelf life of fresh foods within 30 seconds, without using any chemicals.Asrar’s pioneering contributions to science have earned her the prestigious L’Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science in 2020 and the CES 2023 Innovation Award. She has also been recognized on esteemed lists such as Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2021, Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business in 2022, the 50NEXT list shaping the future of gastronomy in 2022, and the Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts list in 2022. Asrar’s mission is to reduce food loss and waste by 2030 while promoting environmental awareness and sustainability across consumer and retail levels.
