The invention is an artificial intelligence-based tool to make the development process of the 3D printing of metals more time-efficient and cost-effective.
3D printing of metal alloys is a sophisticated multi-physics process. Printing metal objects with predictable quality and free of defects is very challenging. In addition, printing with every metal alloy requires the development of printing parameters that should be tailored to fit the material’s chemical composition and physical properties.
The invention tackles these challenges by in-situ smart monitoring and prediction methods leveraging artificial intelligence to make the process development cost-effective, aiming for consistent quality of 3D printing of metals.
He is currently founding his startup company, Consistency, which specializes in 3D printing of metals for the aerospace industry, bringing the technology that has been developed during his doctoral studies to the market.
